Why we built this

It started with keeping a spreadsheet — logging catches, then chasing down by hand what the tide, the moon and the weather had been doing on each of those days, trying to work out which mornings were worth the alarm.

Putting that in an app was the obvious part. The better part was realising it wasnt just about history: with enough of the same data you can say something honest about the future, drawn from science rather than just a lunar calendar.

Then it grew a second side. A catch worth logging is usually a catch worth telling someone about and the people who actually want to hear it are other fishers — not a generic corner of a platform built for everything else.

Nothing was doing all of that and not much of it well. So we built it. For us. For you.

What we believe

Three things.

1. Fishing is for everyone, however you do it — line, fly, spear or bow, fresh water or salt.

2. Data should serve the day rather than replace it; nobody wants a spreadsheet where a morning used to be (we know — we tried).

3. The best fishing app is the one that gets out of the way the moment the rod is in your hand.

How we work

We check things before we claim them. The activity model was built against the marine-science literature rather than fishing lore and the claims that didn't survive checking were dropped — including the ones that would have flattered us. Where the evidence is thin we say so. Where something isn't built yet, we don't describe it as though it is. It is a slower way to build a service and a much easier way to look someone in the eye afterwards.
