Identification
A powerful streamlined predator with a torpedo-shaped muscular build engineered for speed and aggression in fast-flowing rivers. Delivers explosive acceleration and sustained pursuit power. Females may grow slightly larger than males.

Behaviour
Aggressive apex predators that hunt in packs, pursuing small fish through open water and around structure. Piscivorous — smaller species in fast-flowing river sections dominate the diet. Hunting peaks early morning and late afternoon with opportunistic daytime feeding. Territorial; explosive strikes and spectacular acrobatic jumps on prey. Feeding intensifies once water exceeds 24°C (75°F). Concentrates at rapids, confluences, and turbulent current seams.

Wire leader is non-negotiable — the teeth slice any other material cleanly. Check lure tie-points frequently for damage.
Live Lining
Free-line or float-fish a live small baitfish along current seams, eddies, and confluences where tigerfish pack up. Wire trace and strong circle hooks are mandatory. Let the fish turn with the bait before coming tight — explosive jumps on the hookset are routine.
