What we can honestly tell you
That the tide is doing something worth being there for. That the light is right, the water has warmed, the front has passed. That fishers who logged catches around here logged more of them on days that looked like this one. All of which is real, checkable and a genuinely better starting point than a hunch and a spare Saturday.
What we can't
Whether the fish read the same forecast. Whether the one you wanted has moved a hundred metres left. Whether your knot holds, your drag is set, or the lure you swore by last spring has quietly stopped working. We score the conditions. We do not negotiate with the fish on your behalf, and they have never once returned our calls.
On "mastery"
The app will happily track your personal bests, your species tally and the gear that keeps producing. None of that obliges a fish to bite. A fisher with twenty years on a stretch of water still gets skunked and anyone who tells you otherwise is selling something — possibly a lure, possibly a course, definitely not a fishing app.
The blank day is part of it
You already know this or you wouldn't fish. The morning where nothing happens is the price of the morning where everything does and the second one doesn't count for much without the first. Log the blank ones too. They're the days that make your patterns mean something — and they're the ones that turn into the better story at the pub.
So: patience
Time, place and technique we'll help with. The fourth we'll help you tell. The fifth is the one you bring, every time, and it's the reason the whole thing is worth doing. Tight lines — genuinely, because we can't do anything about that either.
